Rules, regulations and laws governing recognition work

Professional recognition is regulated by the Act on the recognition of professional qualifications for the pursuit of an activity in Iceland, No. 26/2010. There is no comparable framework legislation on academic recognition in Iceland. However, under Article 9 of the Higher Education Institutions Act, No. 63/2006, universities/institutions shall have an agreement on mutual recognition of parts of study programmes. Rules on recognition of education can usually be found in the regulations of each university/institution.
