About ENIC/NARIC

ENIC/NARIC Iceland is Iceland’s national information centre for the recognition of foreign qualifications. We provide expert assessments, information and guidance to individuals, universities, employers, public authorities and other stakeholders, supporting access to further education and employment.

Our assessments are advisory and do not constitute binding decisions on admission or employment. The relevant university, employer or competent authority makes the final decision.

Our office also handles applications for licenses in regulated vocational trades. Other regulated professions are handled by various competent authorities. Information about all regulated professions can be found on Island.is

The Icelandic ENIC/NARIC office is located in the Academic Affairs Division at the University of Iceland, in accordance with an agreement between the University and the Ministry of Culture, Innovation and Higher Education. The ENIC/NARIC office is run in accordance with the Article IX.2 of the Lisbon Convention on the Recognition of Qualifications concerning Higher Education in the European Region.

ENIC stands for European Network of Information Centers and NARIC stands for National Academic Recognition Information Centers.

ENIC/NARIC centres are run in the signatory states of the Lisbon Convention and cooperate through ENIC/NARIC networks.

The Nordic ENIC/NARIC offices operate a special cooperative network, see www.norric.org.
